In Pompallier Catholic School we have 4 values that the students follow by; These values are in both English and Maori:

Aroha / Love - Atawhai / Mercy - Pono / Truth 

and Tika / Integrity.

This task is for R.E (Religious Education) which will be a good refreshment for one value in particular; Tika.

For this task we had to write our description of what integrity means & create a DLO (Digital Learning Object) about it. 

Once we have completed that task, we were given another 

semi-task to create one of many in a list; e.g a comic with someone showing how you can show integrity at home. I chose one task that I was really interested in: Illustrate a drawing representing one of these statements. The statement I chose was "Treat others as you would have them, to you", I chose this statement because I felt like I can relate to this topic.

Here is my DLO + Drawing 

I chose to draw a scale with 2 different coloured-people because even though they are completely different on the scale they are both equal; I thought it fitted perfectly with the statement! For my DLO I decided to make a slide explaining what Integrity means, what someone with Integrity looks like & how important Integrity is; this task was much more difficult for me to explain, though I enjoyed it. I experimented with different sites & different tools for both of these tasks and found it quite enjoyable!

Smoothie Time!

In Te Kahu our learning has shifted to be achievable for everyone while being in lock down; one task that we were set was Procedural Writing (step by step instructions).

For this task we were given the privilege to choose any sort of task & write instructions about how to do this task. After we have chosen a task & written specific instructions; then we have to provide a video showing us or someone using our instructions. Whaea Danni provided us with examples and afterwards we had to submit our videos to the teacher where she would send us a rubric back with our markings.

For this task I chose to make a healthy smoothie.

I had lot's of fun making this video & I am happy with my marks! I enjoyed making the smoothie and my whanau did too!

Home Design

In Te Kahu Class we have been doing learning at home.

To fit with that, we have been learning about Area + Perimeter;

Using the knowledge that we gained, we have to create a DLO (Digital Learning Object) like a google drawing of our house including the area and perimeter of it.

Here is my DLO.

My dad is a builder and he really helped me measure the house & rooms, it took us 10 minutes just to measure every room which was really quick. I really enjoyed this task because I got to go outside, and because I felt like I really got into the learning. I hope that more of the learning at home will be as enjoyable as this was!

In Te Kahu Class, we have been learning over a range of subjects such as Te Reo, History, Math, Literacy, Mindfulness and Science.

For science we were given a task to come-up with an experiment about nature, or something related to it with your chosen partner.

We were given the privilege to pick our own buddies, and the teacher supplied us with some ideas for experiments and topics if we were struggling. 

My partner is Piper, and we have been working well with each other, communicating, sharing ideas and testing.

We had to change our chosen project a few times before we settled on A Cloud In A Jar .

It was easiest to think of a question, then pick our project; our main question is "How Do Clouds Form?", so this topic was easy to find the right experiment.

After we had chosen our topic, and project the teacher assigned us to a template that we would fill in along the way of our science.

I enjoyed researching, testing and collaborating for science, I can't wait to present the project and I hope that next time we do science it will be just as enjoyable as this was!

In Te Kahu I have been particularly focusing on my math, so when we have workshops, (short teacher-led session) I try to go to them when I feel the need to learn that task.

For this workshop we were learning how to find the percent of a whole number.

At first I felt like I can do it easily, but when she showed us a sheet to complete in our books; I was stunned and I didn't understand any of it! So I decided that it was better to learn the strategy.

She taught us a method:

Example: (Percent= Per is per number/out of

= Cent is one hundred/ Century)

Find 10% of 20 

Take 10 and divide it by 100:      10•100= 0.1

(when you do this step you move the decimal over by 2 spots or the same amount of zero's there are)

Next take your ans and times it by the number you are trying to find the percent of: 0.1 x 20= 2

(doing this step it is easier to times the 2 closer numbers in this case the 1 & 2 )    

10% of 20 = 2  

After this workshop I found it much easier to find percentages, I even completed the worksheet! I got 16/16 and I'm glad that I chose to go to that workshop; it really helped me improve! 

Pact Problem #2- Multiplicitive

For maths I have been trying to continuously improve my basic facts recall. So this Pact Problem task is a great way for me to practice. For this activity we have to complete two tasks from a slide created by our teacher, these tasks go from level 3-5; multiplicative or additive.

This is my second task and I chose another simple one to help me recall my 4/3 times-tables faster.

I created a flipgrid video on how I solved this problem, I found this question quite easy so I am wanting to step up and challenge myself; even if I get it wrong.

Pact Problems- Additive

In Te Kahu we have been working on our maths, and strategies we                                   use to help us during math.

Our teacher has assigned us to complete 2 tasks from off a slide, solve it in our books, and then show us how to work it out on a website called flipgrid.

I chose to do a simple task to warm up my brain, to test my basic facts and quick recall.
