Dot Art

                                Dot Art

This week in Te Kahu we've been working on our art for the Art and Cultural festival! For this activity we wanted to try a different technique, so we started to make dot art. Dot art is where you use cotton buds or dotting tools to make a silhouette of anything you wish. You can create a simple pattern, an animal or even an entire landscape. I decided to make a Chinese dragon since it's also a cultural festival, I thought that this task was going to be easy but it turned out to be really stressful and messy! Since we had to work outside we were all squashed on 2 small tables in the boiling hot sun, so if anyone moved their arms it would effect everyone else and smudge their paint. Everyone was worrying about their art because it would take so long just to paint on every single dot that no-one wanted to restart. In the end my artwork turned out pretty good and I'm glad it's over. Here is my template of my Chinese dragon!

If you did this art with us, what would you pick for your art?
Why would you pick that?

Wordy Drawings

                     Wordy Drawings

This week in Te Kahu, on our Literacy contract we had a task where we had to create a drawing that describes a word you have chosen or draw what you think matches that word. My word I have chosen is "quaint"After we have chosen a word we would then have to find the definition of the word and then write a sentence. I chose this word because I never really use this word in speaking or in my writing so I thought that using this word would increase my vocabulary and it might help me a little bit more when I am trying to describe something. For my chosen word I decided to draw a picture that goes with a sentence that includes the word quaint. My sentence is " A quaint cottage in the countryside." To create our drawing we were given the options out of Seesaw (another source that we use to share our learning with whanau) or we could use google drawings. Seesaw is more preferably easier for me so I chose to use the drawing tool on Seesaw. I am proud of how I drew my picture on seesaw and I enjoyed this task because now I use this word more often in my writing. I hope we can do more tasks like this so I can learn more words and improve my vocabulary even more!

If you did this task what word would you have chosen? Why?
If you did what would you draw?
