Minecraft Model

                        Minecraft Model

In Te Kahu, we have a task where we have to build/construct a special landmark in minecraft ( minecraft is a video game that uses blocks instead of curves or natural shaping). For this task I chose to create The Great Wall of China, but it did take quite some time. It took a few tries before I was happy with how it would work, but I managed to finish it. Here is an image of my project

I am proud of what I created, and I enjoyed this task very much. I found it challenging at first to construct this but I later got the hang of it.

Would you do this challenge?
If so what would you build?

Digital Abstract

                         Digital Abstract

This week in Te Kahu we have a task on Seesaw (a site we use to post our learning on tasks) where we have to take a picture of something in our class enlarge it, or add filters to it on certain sites. I added a few filters to my image and it made a huge difference. It was challenging at first to think of something in our classroom to make abstract art out of, but later realized it doesn't even have to be abstract itself. A classmate had just took pictures of sand and concrete and enhanced the image, it turned out looking really cool with filters added. So I took a picture of wall decorations and added a few filters to it; this is what I ended out with!

I like my digital abstract art, and I enjoyed experimenting with filters along the way.
If you did this task, what would you do?
Would you add filters?

My Holiday!

                             My Holiday!

Something awesome I did over the holidays was when I went to Australia for an International Waka-Ama Race called the "Gubbi Gubbi Race". It was a long trip but it was quite relaxing. My team and I have been training all year for this trip and we were finally in Sunshine Coast for our big race!

The weather was scorching hot, it felt like everyday it continued to bake, but in our first hotel we were up at 7am in the morning and we were already swimming, it was awesome! The day came where we had to check out the lake to see where we would turn our waka (boat or canoe) but we ended up getting lost for 30 mins and it was hilarious! We came 1st & 2nd in all of our races, and came 4th in our finals. It was exciting and it was very intense because the competition we had were very tough and strong; but they were really polite and kind to us when we came off the lake. In Australia it was very because the motel we stayed in was really neat and it had a hot tub that we all just squezed into. It was relaxing because it was nice having everyone there together and it was bubbling hot! The motel we stayed in was also really really REALLY  high! It was scary at first but later we began to admire how high up we were. The floor me, my mum and my team stayed on was 45 floors high but my team manager and my Nana couldn't bare being that high up, so they stayed on floor 7 & 16. Also over the last few days we went to the theme parks Wet White Water World, and Dream World. We went on tall rides, scary rides and fast roller coasters! We spent all day there and it was lot's of fun we all enjoyed it!

After we got back from Australia we had to drive all the way back to Kaitaia from Auckland. It was stressful but we all made it home and it felt good to be back in NZ. When we arrived back home we all were glad to be back, especially the dog! He kept on jumping on everyone, barking and running around like crazy when we were all exhausted! We all ended up just going to sleep at 4pm because were so tired. I felt happy and proud about our races and to be back home!

What did you do over the holidays?
What was something relaxing/awesome or scary about your holiday?
